DOG & HUMAN TEAMS
Nervous System Co-Regulation for a Strong Human-Canine Bond
Our Dog and Human Team Programs are designed to bring out the best in both you and your dog, giving you each the in-depth support you need for growth. This is an exceptional opportunity for deep connection.
The Beauty of Dogs is offering you the opportunity to learn the skills that will help you utilize the unique gifts your dog possesses as a resource for both your own well-being and theirs. Whether you are simply interested in having a better life and a fuller relationship with your dog, or in learning how this can enable long-term personal growth and healing, this invitation is open to you.
Are you feeling the emotional burden of supporting a dog that you thought would actually be supporting you? If you’ve been struggling in life, you may especially fear failing your dog, overwhelmed with worry that you're not fulfilling all of their needs. Have you been told that you’re the problem, that your dog is anxious because of your anxiety? You both need compassion, not blame.
You're ready to start working hard on healing your dog. Maybe you’ve already tried several other ways and haven’t made the progress you need. To say it hasn't been easy would be an understatement. I can imagine precisely how difficult it's been because I've been there in my own life. Frustration, disappointment, sadness, embarrassment, isolation, guilt, and anger are often emotions felt by people living with complex dogs. However, you likely also recognize that there are still several things you enjoy about your dog.
We want to expand on that - to reveal all the benefits your dog can offer you. They may be different from what you originally imagined, but this is The Beauty of Dogs - their ability to tune into us, and by reflection, allow us to learn more about ourselves and the world around us. This will enable us to develop our own strengths and foster deeper connections in all our relationships. Your capacity for this may be limited now, but learning to regulate your emotions and co-regulate with your dog can make an exponential shift. Those negative emotions, often felt by people living with complex dogs, do not need to continue to overwhelm you. You can access contentment, confidence, compassion, and happiness for both yourself and your dog.
Combining our knowledge and skill set with dogs and humans, we’re creating a new healing opportunity. Our approach uses grounding, orienting, somatics, therapeutic touch, attachment theory, IFS, bilateral stimulation, EMDR, an understanding of the autonomic nervous system, and poly-vagal theory principles to help you and your dog successfully manage both daily and traumatic stress.
Applying polyvagal theory, attachment theory, and IFS principles as tools for creating a strong bond between dogs and their people
Companionship Goals
Why did you get a dog? People often get dogs for companionship, emotional support, and the health benefits of increased physical activity and stress reduction. Beyond these common reasons, dogs provide a sense of purpose, security, and unconditional love that enriches many aspects of a person's life, from mental well-being to social connections. Our purpose is to assist you in reaching these goals and in helping you and your dog enjoy life together.
